Moselle Bike Path
7 Days Starting in Trier and ending in Koblenz
Visiting: Germany
Tour Overview
Discover the historically rich wine growing region of Moselle on this fascinating ride following the Moselle Bike Path from Trier to Koblenz. This ride is mainly on paved roads and dedicated bike trails, which makes it much easier to enjoy the many cultural highlights and regional delights to be found along the Moselle River. Beginning in Trier, regarded as Germany's oldest city, you'll witness numerous Roman monuments before setting out along the vineyard lined Moselle River, whose breathtaking green landscapes will constantly inspire you as you cycle. Part of the route includes an educational trail that details the different domestic grape varieties, and true oenophiles will enjoy a chance to stop at Neumagen-Dhron, Germany's oldest wine village. Those who appreciate fine architecture will enjoy the art nouveau and belle epoque masterpieces at Traben-Trarbach, while everyone will admire the 11th century Reichsburg Castle at Cochem as well as the many other castles you'll pass including the medieval Burg Eltz, one of Germany's best preserved castles. As you continue to Koblenz there is always time to stop in one of the many small villages to engage in authentic exchanges with the local people. In all, this trip is an amazing opportunity to combine great landscapes with good wine and intriguing tales from history.

Grading
INTRODUCTORY - GRADE 1
This trip involves 5 days cycling of between 35km and 50km (21 and 31mi) per day usually along paved cycle paths across generally flat terrain. In and out of the cities there will be some traffic. You need only carry your camera
ain gear and water bottle. The accent is on keeping a relaxed pace to take in all of the attractions, with time to stop and take photos. Your luggage is transferred from hotel to hotel. For this reason the trip is a grade 1 cycle and is considered suitable for beginners. *For safety reasons, we insist that cycle helmets be included as a compulsory item on your equipment list.
What You Carry
During the cycle day you will carry your daily requirements in the pannier provided with the bike. This may include your lunch, wet weather gear, mobile phone and water. A small daypack which can be kept inside the pannier is useful for sightseeing.
