Experience the International Gilbert and Sullivan Festival in the elegant Peak District town of Buxton at the beautiful Buxton Opera House. This Victorian operatic duo wrote 14 operas, such as The Mikado, H.M.S. Pinafore, The Pirates of Penzance and Iolanthe. These performances sit somewhere between an opera and a musical and are referred to as operettas or ‘light operas’. The International Gilbert & Sullivan Festival was founded in 1994 to celebrate these fantastic works.

Discover the quaint villages of the Peak District on our trip to charming Eyam – known for its associations with the Black Death! Dark history aside, today it is a pretty village with a craft centre, sculpture garden and market hall.
We also call at Castleton, a picturesque village in the Hope Valley – steeped in history and a quintessential English hamlet.
We return back to the hotel in time to get ready for tonight's performance. Make your way to the Buxton Opera House and settle in for an evening of incredible entertainment!
Day 3 : At Leisure In Buxton And Evening Performance At The Gilbert And Sullivan Festival*

Today you will have a free day to explore Buxton and attend any of the fringe events associated with the festival taking place around the town. There's often sessions with experts introducing the fascinating background behind the performances or recitals with wonderful singers.
This evening make your way back to the Buxton Opera House for your second fantastic performance of one of Gilbert & Sullivans masterpieces.
Day 4 : Bakewell And Matlock Bath
Location: Bakewell, Matlock Bath

Today we will visit the pretty town of Bakewell, best known for its famous tart and beautifully located on the banks of the River Wye.
We will then visit the spa town of Matlock Bath. Lord Byron dubbed it ‘Little Switzerland’ on account of its magnificent views and steep, wooded hillsides. It has been attracting visitors since the late 17th Century, and by the 19th Century it was a place for the finest in society to be seen, including royalty.
Day 5 : Return Home
