In seven days, you will see the Nordic customs, taste the Lappish cuisine, explore the Arctic thoroughly, visit an Amethyst mine and watch the wonders of the Arctic in the best position in the Arctic Circle! Day 1 : Helsinki Tour & Sightseeing
Location: Helsinki
Begin with the capital city of Finland – Helsinki. Explore the city’s most prominent cathedrals: the Helsinki Cathedral and Uspenski Cathedral. Constructed in the 1800s, the cathedrals were built while Finland was a part of Russia. Nowadays the cathedrals are the most iconic landmarks of Helsinki. Wander around at the outdoor Kauppatori Market filled with everything from local produce to finnish souvenirs, Kauppatori creates a vibrant atmosphere within the city. The last stop in this city tour is the Sibelius Park. In the heart sits a monument to Sibelius: a renowned Finnish composer accredited with helping Finland develop a national identity. The park is on the waterfront of a large bay with one of the best cafés in Helsinki nearby. Your day concludes with taking the overnight train to the Santa's hometown: Rovaniemi.
Day 2 : Welcome To Rovaniemi, The Official Hometown Of Santa Claus!
Location: Rovaniemi
Rovaniemi is the capital of Christmas spirit and the hometown of Santa Claus. On arrival in Lapland, you will be picked up from Rovaniemi train station and set off to Santa Claus Village. Meet Mr. Santa Claus in his office at the most festive village - Santa Claus Holiday Village. Greet the Elves and chat with Santa to learn all about his Christmas secrets. The traditional lunch finnish style buffet will be served at the Christmas House Restaurant. After lunch, we will take you to the Arctic Circle, you will receive a certificate for crossing the Arctic Circle and will become a true Arctic trekker! After the tour, the guide will drive you to your accommodation for checking in and rest for the night.Â
Day 3 : Midnight Sun Sauna Boat
Location: Lapland
The design concept of the sauna boats comes from the traditional Finnish sauna experience together with the beautiful landscape the lake side can offer. From June to August in Lapland are the best seasons to experience this a unique activity.Â
At midnight you can enjoy and watch the midnight sun while sailing into the middle of a lake. This magical way of having a sauna bath is becoming a Finnish tradition, and today you will learn all about it as well. Experience this full featured sauna (wooden and traditional) and let's do it the Finns way !
After the sauna, you can jump into the lake for a refreshing swim or chilling on the deck of the boat to feel the breeze! Our tour guide will also sail the sauna boat to different areas of the lake so you get to enjoy different views of this amazing experience under the sky and midnight sun.
Day 4 : Reindeer Farm Activities And Arktikum Museum
Location: Rovaniemi
Rovaniemi is one of the largest cities in the European Union by land , with most of the city being forestland. Within the forestland live many different animals and critters; most importantly, the Reindeer. The reindeer roam freely during the winter, and they return to their farms during the summer. The tourists visit the reindeer farms to meet and feed these animals.
The day trip continues with a tour into the city. Visit Arktikum Museum, where you will see the exhibition of arctic animals, indigenous people Sami, and local history from the ice age to the present. You can also find information and a display of Northern lights.
Day 5 : Amethyst Mine And Gold Panning Experience
Location: Luosto
The private car will take you from your hotel to Luosto, a city located 115 km away from Rovaniemi. The area contains beautiful forests and nature, where you can indulge yourself in the tranquility of the Arctic circle. The 20 million years old amethyst mine is located inside the ancient mountains. Climbing up the mountain you will meet professionals who will tell you the interesting history of the Amethyst Mine. With the support of them, use the tools to dig out your own piece of amethyst, which you can take with you for a small souvenir. Afterward, enjoy the beautiful landscape of this mountain offered together with a small campfire barbecue. The mining continues with the summer gold rush! Your guides know the best locations for finding gold and will take you there in Saariselkä. To extract the gold, you will be panning across deposits and trying your luck as a gold miner. In the end of the day, you will be accommodated in Saariselkä.Â
Day 6 : Trip To Inari, Visit The Sami Village
Location: Inari
Your last stop will be the town of Inari, the center of Sami culture. Sami people are the indigenous people of Lapland, and there is the Sami Siida Museum, which introduced in depth of the unique Sami culture. After visiting the museum, you will have a free time to explore the peaceful village. The surrounding area has over 100 named hills, and the city has 4 official languages spoken by different Sámi groups. At the end of the day, you will be transferred to Rovaniemi train station.
Day 7 : Back To Helsinki, End Of The Tour

When to travel to Lapland?
There are four distinctly different seasons as far up north as Rovaniemi. However, locals think the conditions are in a constant state of change and say there are up to eight seasons in the year: midwinter, snowy spring, spring, summer, harvest season, autumn leaf colour, first snowfall, and Christmas. Please bear in mind that there is annual fluctuation in weather. Lapland is in the continental climate zone. The winters are cold and rich in snow, but thanks to the Gulf Stream, the summers are relatively warm. Rovaniemi is part of the arctic region; its climate, however, is subarctic and temperate, characterised by strong seasonal contrasts of dark versus bright and cold versus warm.

Summer in Lapland
The Midnight Sun and white nights in June and July The Midnight Sun period officially lasts from early June until early July, but nights are white throughout the summer in Rovaniemi. The summer in Lapland can offer an interesting variety of weather conditions, with a longer warm spell expected in July. The warmest time of year brings people out in masses, and various events take place in summery Rovaniemi. Prepare to celebrate until the wee hours, as the sun never goes down. There are plenty of things to do in Rovaniemi in the summer, and with 24 hours of light, there’s no limits to time of action.

Spring in Lapland
The snow melts, the ice breaks and nature is reborn in April and May April is still considered a snowy month in Rovaniemi and Lapland, but the snow gradually disappears as May approaches. The ice on rivers and lakes starts melting, and big chunks of ice can be seen flowing downstream. In early April, the last of the Northern Lights displays can be seen. Towards the end of April, nights are too light for the Auroras to be spotted. In May, northern nature starts getting ready to blossom once again after a harsh winter. At the end of May, nights are white. In Rovaniemi, winter activities still run in early April, after which it’s time for non-snow stuff.

Winter in Lapland
Christmas, the Polar Night and snowy spring from December to March December and January are snowy months shrouded in the darkness of the Polar Night. The sun comes out in February and marks the start of the snowy, light-filled spring. March is often terrific for Northern Lights viewing. In Rovaniemi, the Official Hometown of Santa Claus, Christmas is a special time, as many flock to the arctic town to meet Santa in person and experience the festive season in magical wintery surroundings. The winter is a great time for a number of activities both in the snow outside and experiencing local culture inside.

Autumn in Lapland
First Auroras and first snowfall from August to November Early August is still considered summer by many, but by the end of the month, it’s definitely autumn. The Northern Lights start appearing in late August, and September and October are ideal Aurora viewing months. Temperatures start dropping below zero in October, and first snow usually falls at around the same time period. A permanent snow cover is expected in late November. Autumn leaf colour paints the landscapes in earthy shades, and days are perfect for hiking and other nature related activities, as nights are best reserved for Aurora spotting.
