Tour Overview

The Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve is included in the UNESCO World Heritage and it is probably the wildest territory in Europe. More than half of its territory is still intact, with difficult access for visitors. It is the 3rd largest Biosphere Reserve in the world and hosts more than 5,500 species of flora and fauna. The Danube Delta is a paradise for wildlife enthusiasts and those who enjoy wildlife photography. Close to the Danube Delta is the old region of Dobrogea, hosting the oldest mountains in Europe – Macin. Dobrogea is hosting a mosaic of culture and civilization, as this place has been visited throughout the ages by Greeks, Romans, Turks, Russians, Tatars, Italians, and other civilizations. Visiting the Dobrogea region and the Danube Delta should be one of the most unexpected experiences in Europe for a tourist. Our trip occurs in spring and autumn – the best season for visiting the place. In our program we will combine the hiking, the cycling experience and the boat trip for offering you a visit to a unique natural place where you will also experience the local culture, cuisine and lifestyle. Our hosts are local families living in fishermen villages, cooking for us and leading us with their boats in the heart of this unknown place.

Highlights

  • Hiking in Macin Mountains

  • Cycling in Dobrogea region

  • Boating in the Danube Delta for watching the wildlife

Danube Delta and the Danube Route

16-Nov-2023

A great customized tour in the region of Dobrogea, where we visited the very old mountains of Europe, followed by a visit trip in the Danube Delta, experiencing the local architecture, local food, and interaction with the locals. The trip in the wilderness of the Delta is fabulos, with a low speed boat, guided by locals. Great!

Fabulous tour / brilliant guide

02-Jul-2023

Fabulous tour, Jon is a great guide, very friendly, knowledgable/insightful about Bucharest/Romania, clever route took in all of the interesting places in the city. He carefully curates the route to see everything important but also to maximise shade as it gets hot in Romania in the summer. Bikes are high quality. Jon was very flexible, stopping for photos and a coffee, so we actually overran (our choice) the tour! and he even gave us a lift back into our hotel afterwards. You get a funky set of photos/route map at the end. Outstanding. Strongly recommend.
