Tour Overview
Climbing Island Peak via Everest Base Camp is an acclimatization journey in spectacular Himalayan scenery that stirs emotions, and there's nothing like the high of climbing Island Peak. Island Peak, at 6,189m/20,305ft, is not the highest trekking peak in Nepal, but its technical ramifications are numerous and varied. On top of that, an exposed summit ridge for an exhilarating climax gets the adrenaline pumping on top of physical equipment with rock scrambling, roped glacier travel, a steep snow/ice wall, and roped glacier travel. Starting from Kathmandu, we fly to Hillary's airstrip at Lukla before trekking to Dingboche via Saga, the bustling Sherpa capital. To assist you with your acclimatization and to reduce the risk of altitude illness, you spend two nights in each of these villages. In a league of its own, the trek lasts two weeks. It involves climbing Kala Pattar early in the morning or trekking to the Everest Base Camp for optimum acclimatization. At every bend and turn, the Himalayan giants that tower over 7,000 and 8,000 meters stand tall and proud.
